Liduina thanks for the links, especially the dentelledebinche.net. That one has photos of some really good modern Binche. In case anyone wants a weather report, Chicago is digging out from a mound of snow that fell last night. I don't know the official measure yet, but it looks like 14-18 inches

In response to Jo's note I was trying to enter data on our local museum to the LOKK webpage. And I discovered that part of the Art Institute of Chicago's lace collection is online. Unfortunately only 399 pieces out of over 1000 are listed online, and only some of those have photos attached. And

What I find interesting is the fact that she still has the "de Mestre" in her name. - and as I remember her, it was often used as her full name. I noticed it was not mentioned in her book, but may be on the pattern books she wrote - though I do not have a copy of either of those. But I always
