I shouldn't have said "I found nothing" - I did find tables, but no lace foyer

Hi Spiders,
I am wanting to take off in my New Year Project of doing the edging for
the cloths used in our chapel and thought I would like to do something
in Bucks with crosses somewhere in the design, I have been looking at
the prickings I have and have failed to find even one in Buckspoint.
There are about six or seven patterns for church clothes in one of
Koretelahti's books. They are lovely, and different, if you like
Korthelati's designs and don not mind it not being Bucks.
The book is "Nyplättya pitsia" (bobbin lace)

Lots of Torchon with a few Beds and Bucks patterns in 'Lace for Church Use' by
Marie-Clare Downham, published by Batsford in 1989.
BUT, I have to say I don't see why most of these patterns are in the book (or
conversely why the book has this title) as only one of the Torchon pieces has a

Another place for church lace patterns is the Swedish Lace Society site.
They have a large number of patterns just for church use. The site is only
in Swedish, but that should not be too much of a problem.

I think you will find few church laces in Bucks. Crosses and other symbols
are usually symmetrical. Bucks is worked on an angle that's not 45 degrees so
it's difficult to make squares or symmetrical features. Torchon, or even 's

Hi Dot,
Think twice before you use Bucks Point for church lace: one of the saddest
pieces of lace I have ever seen was a Bucks point border on an altar cloth
in a Suffolk church. So much work had gone into the lace, but it had
absolutely no impact for anyone sitting or standing in the body

Thanks for the book review. I have added it to the book list on laceioli for
this type of lace. A very useful review, with all the important information.

Mea Culpa to All! Had no clue that Anthropologie doesn't make the lace table

the idea of how it was made. To me, it looks like a decoupa
