I would like to add my voice of praise to Alice for the wonderful account of
her trip; I felt I was walking along side her all the way! I am not
surprised that you feel exhausted now you are home! I am afraid that
happens to a lot of use older ladies when we try to fit as much as possible
into out trips! Anyway, well done Alice on writing it all up for us.

I have enjoyed the thread about which bobbins we prefer. I am a bone bobbin
lady! I collected them while I was at work and could afford them and now
have enough to have a full pillow of bone for the piece of Binche I am
currently doing! We are very fortunate here in New Zealand that we have a
bobbin maker who makes VERY reasonably priced bone bobbins and now I am
retired it is my annual treat to myself to purchase a few from him when I
see him at a lace event! I also have several antique bobbins collected
while I was working, but I am afraid they have now priced themselves out of
my pocket! I don't think the antique bobbins can be particularly brittle as
they have lasted many many years and would have been well used in their
earlier life, as they are now!! I also have a good supply of wooden ones,
which I enjoy using, but I do really prefer the bone!
