pockets. 'as is' - recipient might want to wash and press it ;)
It is nicely made. I'm using clear boxes for bobbin storage now.

Don't worry carol - I do that too!!! like you say the beads on the bobbins are
half the pleasure. I've adapted some of my left over beads into earings. this
is how lace leads to so many other crafts don't you think?

I must be even more peculiar than I thought!
I always put my bobbins in their bobbin-bags/rolls with the spangles
showing - I love spangling as well as lace-making, and like to see the
spangles!

I generally only use a bobbin roll to keep empty bobbins on. As each roll is
made from different fabric, I know which bobbins are in which roll.
When I wind bobbins I put them on a bobbin tree (a supported fabric covered

I put my bobbins in their pockets in pairs spangle first (or tail first in
the case of non-spangled bobbins), so the head with the thread is sticking
out and I can see how much thread and what colour is on each pair or if
they're empty. So does everyone else whose bobbin roll I've ever seen.

I know this probably doesn't set the thread as well as a bobbin tree, but somebody
might find it helpful somewhere. I am sure I am reinventing the wheel.
I have been meaning to make myself an embroidered bobbin roll. I did a lovely one for
my teacher with Celtic birds and braids done in cro
