Back from my travels visiting my ailing mother last week in the fabulous sunshine. I took the travel pillow I bought last year and had set up, with your help, to work a narrow strip of lace. Often when there I do spend some time each day working on my lace, but sadly I only got chance to add about six or 10 pins on one afternoon and never got the chance to do more that whole week. In stead I spent much of the time doing little constructive things to help her ongoing (one of which was making sure she got some new medication for her terrible legs and then taking them every day), <g> Thankfully that is happening so I definately dont begrudge my time. She did really enjoy seeing the new pillow and how useful it is given suitable space and time to work. I wore my new grey top with the black worked lace on and she enjoyed seeing that as well and since we got back I turned the top inside out, folded it and popped it into one of those net bags and put it into the wash with the rest of the load. When it came out of the machine I turned it back the right way, shook it out and put it onto a coathanger to dry and when I thought to check the lace out it is looking fantastic. I hadn't even needed to tweek it while wet to make it sit right, so I am really pleased with the outcome of that. I now have plans to make one or two more pieces of lace for my own clothing, but need to finish the current piece off first and also a smallish motif I promised a friend but haven't been motivated to work at it yet. It is one out of my head so its not as relaxing as carrying on with my current piece. I need to give myself a push though as the time is galloping when it must be finished. Briefly on the current thread of arthritic hands I do have a condition sister to Rheumatoid Arthritis which affects my joints but find cold stops my hands working easily. I often wear my handeze gloves which are like a second skin and help the circulation and make it possible to work some days where I doubt I would be able to without them. Good for tendernitis, and other difficulties as well. Just a very satisfied customer over the last 11 years.
