Dear and gentle spiders,

It has been a long time since I've come out of lurking. Do miss very much DH acting as my executive secretary. New computer--what a frustrating blast! but to the event at hand:

The Hedgehog Lace Guild arranged to bring Janya Sugunnasil to the states for a three day week-en work shop Feb 12,13,14th. Sorry, it filled up immediately with our members--13 of us at my home in Los Alamitos,Ca (between rains :>))

The pattern was a lovely five petal pansy to be worked into a pin or left on the stem. She arrived with kits already with Materials for two flowers. "Please choose your least favorite color and make that one first so the perfect one will be in your favorite colors" Great philosophy! Thread for each bobbin was wound on to a small rectangle of styrofoam, the wire for shaping the petals was already wound with the silk the color of the petals and diagrams to help you on your way.

We were using polished silk which is much easier to work with than the raw silk.

Feb,10 we had a 'meet and greet' dinner at the local Olive Garden at which 10 of the 13 picked up their kits to be able to wind bobbins before class--the others either had theirs delivered to them by friend or arrived and hour early for class to get the first 17 pairs wound.

We really had a wonderful and happy three days. Janya is so patient and caring she makes you feel OK even if you goof.

I do think our Prez Belinda Belisle did actually finish the five petals of the flower. I' m still limping along on #3. But not to worry I can e-mail Janya in Çhaing Mai for answers.

Do, if you have the opportunity, take a class in polished silk thread lace from her. She is awesome in technique, design and teaching !

Sorry you all missed it. Next time we will try to get our act together and have two or more sessions while we have her here, and Have a little more advanced notice to give more people a chance to attend.

Still read all digests but have been too busy to get involved. My life should be calmer soon.

Thank you all for best wishes sympathy and condolences at the death of my husband. It really helped and I'm sorry I am so late in acknowledging it. New computer and a klutz take time to adjust.

Audrey
