There have been quite a few postings about Christine & David Springett and
their British College of Lace. As one of their tutors I can tell you that the
college ceased to function some two years or so ago. I know many of you have
happy memories of classes attended at the college and it is a great loss to
the lacemaking world. However, there are several other residential colleges
in this country, one of which is Missenden Abbey in Buckinghamshire. The
Abbey is situated 'in the picturesque village of Great Missenden in a fold of
the Chiltern Hills, 30 miles north-west of London on the A413, with easy rail
and motorway links and the M40 and M25 only 20 minutes away.' Courses are
fully residential and non-residential with each room having en-suite
facilities. For further information contact:-

Maybe overseas visitors might be interested when visiting London, to see if
there is a weekend course available to coincide with their trip. I have
received several enquiries from overseas students in the past.
One can learn Bucks Point, Torchon, Bedfordshire, Honiton, Belgian and other
Eruopean Laces along with Needlelace/Stumpwork. There are many other crafts
also available. I shall be teaching Needlelace/stumpwork the weekend 7-9
November 2003 (still one or two vacanacies), 6-8 February 2004 and 4-6 June
2004.
