I think it looks like a very large pincushion that hangs on the wall near a
sewing machine. It has rods for spools of thread and I bet the cup hooks are
to hold things like scissors. I finally found the photo you were talking about
by going to her photo album. Looks like she collects old pincu
it's mean to be hung on a wall.
In Australia, we call charity/thrift shops 'Op' shops (derived from

Recently a photo of a mystery object has been posted on The Lace Guild's
Facebook page.
Right, in the end I took a snap shot of the picture in my fb app on the ipad,
then opened the picture up and enlarged portions of it on the ipad.
I think we are looking at this sort of upside down. The cuphooks are either to
hang it from something or to hang something off it.

Please never photograph a receipt of this kind and post it where others
can see the details. It probably contains identifying information that bad

Dear Jacqui and the gentle spiders.
I have solved accessing the picture issue but not what this is.
If you access fb via the apps on a tablet or phone then you have the
opportunity to click on 'Posts to page'. I normally access via my browser,
even on the tablet because this actually gives m
Yes, you are right. The first link shows the reverse of the object and the
second link takes you to the Lace Guild main page rather than the front of the
object.
What an opportunity for any of you who have not yet liked the Lace Guild main
page to follow the link and link the page (hint hint)
Thank you Sue, Â I am very appreciative of your help.
Any ideas?

Jacquie,
I've just spoken to our experts here at work (the advantage of being rebranded
IT) and we've all looked at the LG fb page but can't see the picture. They
suggest that you might be able to see it as admin but I can't as a 'normal'

Jacquie,
I dived over to the page straight away but for the life of me I can't bring up
the picture. I can see the comment and it is showing an icon to indicate that
there is a photo there but it just won't show it.
Can you or any of the gentle spiders explain what I'm doing wrong?

I agree that a thread holder is the best so far, but it just seems way too

on each wire and the holes are close to the edge of the discs, so the spools
would be hanging out all round. Because of its size, and the

Again, I don't think so , because the base is covered with felt so it's
definitely an item that may be stood on a polished surface. And what would
all the

I just stopped at a rather poor "earring stand"! and felt that one of you

I went to my books as "sewing tools" are quite a favorite of mine after lace

Again, sorry for cross posting but it may or may not be a lace related object
that I asked Malvary to post for me on Friday evening.
Unusually for arachne, we didn't get an answer that seemed to fit the
problem. The most likely seemed to be that it might be a thread holder, with
