My exchange card and ornament arrived this Saturday from Dagmar Steinbachova in the Czech Republic! My husband said, "You know someone in the Czech Republic?" He was as excited as I was. 8-)) We looked at the stamps and grinned, because we know at one time we might not have been able to receive mail from there.

What a thrill to get an ornament from so far away! My new, beautiful ornament has a place right on the front of my tree, so I can show everyone and tell them the story of how I came to own it. I'm really proud to show it off. Thank you so much! Please know Dagmar that you're being new at bobbin lace made absolutely no difference to me. Your ornament was unique, beautiful and well made. It's Dagmar's own design!

It came on a pretty green card which really made the ornament stand out. Here's what it looks like: It's a round, red and gold ornament (perfectly round.) I think the red has some silver with it. The really beautiful thing is that it has a top layer of gold braid and picot! The idea of 2 layers was really inspiring, and I want to try that (if I can figure out how she did it) 8-))

She also sent post cards. What beautiful architecture! One of the buildings had 2 onion domes and a Star of David in the center. I thought, "Maybe that's a synagogue." Sure enough on the back, it said velka synagogo Divadlo J. K. Tyla.

Thanks, Dagmar for the priceless ornament, the cards and the friendly letter.

I'm so happy we did this exchange!

Mary
