Chemical would be my guess too, though definitely "vintage" (ie made at least 10-15yrs ago <g>); the edges are nice and clean, where in the more modern stuff they tend to be fuzzier. As a matter of fact, at first I thought it had to be one of those plastic (vinyl) "laces"... :)


The entire doily is 6.5". The lace cannot - at the widest point -- be more than 1.5"; more likely slightly narrower. Of that, each face takes up slightly more than half the width; say 3/4"... Anyone making a face that small *by hand* would have used much finer thread...

Would not, as seller claims "look great framed"

Perfect under a wedding cupcake though, if one's having a *very* private ceremony... :)
