I presume you mean like the piece you offered us in IOLI Bulletin.

Yup. Much easier than rolled tallies...

Most enjoyable to see how your mind works! :))
Please keep these wonderful pieces coming.

Thanks and I will. Though can't promise to have an earth-shattering discovery (or even a sudden "ilumination") every 3 months :)

Tamara, - if you want to use up the old thread - can't you just put that it
was made with XXX thread, and YYY would be a good substitute?

*Theoretically*, I could. But, when I was just starting (and my stash wasn't so large yet as to threaten to burst the house at the seams, so I was less reluctant to add to it), I found it very frustrating, when a pattern recommended a thread and it was no longer available to me. I didn't trust myself to substitute threads (or change the size of the pattern to suuit the ones I had), because I didn't have any instincts about the possible results. If someone is paying me a compliment of working on my pattern, I'd as soon spare them the frustration I remember so vividly.

Also, I don't feel comfortable saying "I used X thread, but you can use Y instead" without making sure it's true. To make sure it's true, I'd have to make one sample each in both threads (unless I've worked with thread Y before and know how it'll behave). It's less effort to make the sample *only* in thread Y; I'm lazy enough not to want to make twice what can be made once :)
