According to the PhotoStamps site, they were "overwhelmed" by the response, so, obviously, the doubling of the price didn't deter those in search of novelty/making themselves visible. Eaqually obviously, it had to be cost effective for the company, or else they wouldn't be encouraging people to write the USPS in support of the idea. Whether it was cost effective for the USPS... :) We'll find out eventually I hope, and the sooner the better, IMO; I'd love to have it re-instated before next Christmas. It would beat petitioning for having a USPS stamp approved *hollow*, if one could put lace on show whenever one felt like it (and could afford it <g>), without *significantly* cutting into the number of stamps sold through the traditional routes.

I remember PO being worried about going bankrupt because of the increased e-mail traffic. That didn't happen; if anything, e-mail contacts have increased the s-mail traffic - just think of all the Secret Pal exchanges engendered by this e-list <g>. I do not participate in SPs but, even without it, my usage of s-mail has tripled since I got on e-mail - even before the 2-Pairs - simply because my acquaintance among people I *want* to stay in contact with has grown. And then there are all the magazines and books that are being mailed to me now...
