The ebay 'bobbin' isn't a bobbin, and likely a handle as others have
pointed out. The Stanhope as a novelty decoration for souvenirs was fairly
common. I have a photo (somewhere) of a needlecase in turned ivory, with
a Stanhope embedded in its lid-end.
