Dear Spiders, First of all, sorry about the error in trying to send
the spider over. I hope it will reach you by other routes i.e. Malvary
and Margot.
On behalf of the family, which includes 3 other lacemakers and 1
embroiderer may I thank everyone for their kind thoughts on Alan's
death. We had just celebrated our 50th anniversary when the cancers
suddenly galloped.
I shall miss his support in all the lace projects I've always worked on
and the sub-editing and layout of the patterns and books I have done.
Certainly the work he did on the social history of lacemakers in the mid
C19th helped him after he retired from journalism and missed the urgency
and pressure of deadlines to be met after 40+ years spent on Fleet
Street and then as the press officer/ journal editor of one of our
larger trade unions.
At the moment I am busy making a garter for youngest grand-daughter who
is getting married in Jan. so that is something for us all to look
forward to.
I hope that if any of you ever come to Britain that we could meet , and
there is always OIDFA 2012 in Normandy!
Thanks again.
Sheila in Sawbridgeworth or as the Saxons called it ' The bridge over
the river made of withes'
