When I was studying the lace at the Art Institute of Chicago I ran into the
same problem Tamara mentions. The museum allowed me to purchase slides of
some of their laces (but insisted I only use them for private study, not
publication in any form whatsoever). Their staff photographer took the

for a lecture about fans, years ago, I asked in our museums for the permission
to take photos. And was successful in one in HH an in one in Belgium. I got the
permission for the lecture and at that time also for printing in a book because
I gave the origin photos to the museum.
