In reply to my own question; yes ox-blood shoe polish is still
available - I found a tin in Timpson's shoe repairer's today. Thank
you to Carole Lassak for offering to send me a tin from USA, but I
won't be needing it now.

I got the most wonderful package from my Secret Pal. It started with a tour
of the package. There were some wonderful choclates from a chocolatier, an
angel shell ornament, a wonderful rose candle and 2 packages I cannot open yet.

A man's car broke down as he was driving past a beautiful, old
monastery.
He walked up the drive and knocked on the front door of the monastery.
A monk answered, listened to the man's story and graciously invited him
to spend the night.
*Another* vintage one (as usual, my *passive* memory works better
than my active one; I remember having seen it it before g). The
introductory note from the source says it all however. Hope it'll
