I bought a t-shirt for DD Helen on Norfolk Island in July - and found that her usual size - medium, was tiny, so had to get her XL.(or was it XXL?) I warned her not to have a fit when she saw the size on the label!!!!!!!! I think it just fitted her about right, so going by the size label is useless! There is no standard size, unfortunately.

I carry a tiny retractable tape measure as standard equipment in my handbag (along with ½ the house!!!) so I go by measurement, nowadays. I keep a list of the underarm measurement when a garment is laid flat, and measure clothes in shops. I get a few strange looks, sometimes - but it works for me!
