I re-read/re-watch books/movies because I enjoy them. Like Tamara, I know what to expect and can "play along" with the story. There is also frequently something new to discover no matter how many times I redo these. There is also some character in the things I redo that I can identify with or that reminds me of a loved one.

I do NOT, however, want to relive trauma. I never understood the mentality that luxuriates in this kind of thing. I've lived through some terrible things and would just as soon never think about them again, thank you.

Just like there are many different genres of books and movies, there are many different types of people to enjoy each. Something for everyone, a comedy tonight (From "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum").
