What bugs me is the criminal who knocks somebody off for the sole purpose of making the mystery into a murder mystery.
I adored Charlotte McLeod's work, but had to give it up because of all the corpses being dragged in by the tail. The final straw was a story in which a couple of dozen very rare Rolls Royce automobiles disappeared from a locked garage -- enough motivation to track down whodunnit, don't you think? And *how*dunnit would be even more important, if you got the cars back and wanted to store them in the same garage. But somebody got randomly knocked off. -- Joy Beeson http://home.earthlink.net/~joybeeson/ http://home.earthlink.net/~dbeeson594/ROUGHSEW/ROUGH.HTM west of Fort Wayne, Indiana, U.S.A. where spring is giving way to summer.
