A man involved in a plot to extort $40 million from Bill Cosby was
sentenced to more than five years in prison Thursday.

Jose Medina, 54, told a federal judge he only provided Autumn Jackson
and Antonay Williams with a place to stay because Jackson's mother had
asked him to help her.

"I see myself facing many years in jail for something that I thought
was a very humanitarian thing," Medina said. But Judge Barbara Jones
said Medina was "far too enmeshed in this scheme" and sentenced him to
five years and three months in prison.

Medina and Jackson faxed a demand for money to prevent Jackson from
publicly naming Cosby as her out-of-wedlock father. The actor denied he
is Jackson's father but has admitted he once had a relationship with her
mother.
