We're definitely heading down the path of making it much easier to see what the Church already has about you and your ancestors. The upcoming release of the New FamilySearch has some great functionality in it for pulling together all of the Church's data sets and presenting them to you linked toge

Dan,I have been working on a similar project (topoged) so I was excited to see your smart viewer.  Unfortunely, it did not work on my 6 MB GEDCOM.  Looks exciting though. On 10/6/06, Dan Lawyer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: All,   A week or so ago I posted an image of my pedigree in a smart pedigr

I love the RSS feed idea. We'll see if we can get that going in the next couple of weeks. We do plan to have ongoing updates to the site every week to two weeks. I'll also get it posted on the wiki.>>> "Jesse Stay" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 10/6/2006 3:25:36 PM >>> One other idea - you may like to post

Yes, I can't wait for them to provide an API to their data. Once that's available I would write my own UI in an instant, and I imagine others would come up with their own uses for it as well. I think rather than developing all these technologies now and then involving the community, if th

Heh - I was waiting for someone to ask that. No, never worked in Linux. It just waited and waited - nothing came up. It worked great on my Mac though (didn't spend a lot of time on it however). This reminds me a lot of OneGreatFamily.com's Genealogy browser, in fact *very* much like it.

Hmmm, sounds cool but doesn't work on linux (firefox 1.5.0.7). On a related note, this is great that the family search website is being updated. I've tried to use it various times over the last few years and have found it completely unintuitive. I got up to 10 generations done but it was like

I did get it to work.  It is very important to pick the correct RIN number.    With a large GEDCOM, (4000+ people) the performance was a bit slow and it couldn't zoom out far enough to see the whole chart.  I really love the concept.  Some of the things I like: * When you click on a box, it lights

One other idea - you may like to post that on the ldsoss.org wiki so it can be there as a reference.  If you're planning on updating that with other projects in the future, an rss feed of projects on that page would be nice, as we would be notified when new projects appear.
