So if there's already available drivers in /lib/modules (for different

Right. On my 5.2 boxes there's no moddb at all.
That is fine for you, on mine there is no modules.sqfs and I doubt there
will ever be.

with the changes to sqfs I ran into a problem when saving modules.
Automatic laoding during boot from kmodules.sqfs works pretty well for modules
added in /etc/modules like tun.ko.gz and for hardware modules detected like
ath*.
When trying to save the added modules, it neither saves tun.ko
