If you're booting off floppy, you will need to update root.lrp to get the
changes made to busybox and POSIXness. In general, you can look at the

You probably want to keep the CD-ROM in the package path, or strange things
could happen (ie you load packages with configuration info, but no
binaries). Also, the b
Thanks for everyone's help. Since I now got it working I though I should
share exactly what I did:
1. get and burn latest iso image
2. boot routerbox with cd, make sure a blank msdos formatted floppy is in
the drive.
3. rtfm and set everything up and backup as usual (generic step, I know)
4. mou

If you're looking for *very* simple setup (create a boot floppy with a
Windows-based wizard) try coyotelinux.com. I plan to "graduate" to
Eigerstein when I need more flexibility, but Coyote is insanely easy to
setup.

I missed the part about the 2.0 kernel...I don't know if that complicates
things or not. With 2.2 and ipchains, it doesn't matter if you've got one
PPP interface or a thousand, if they're all assigned IP's encompased in a
single network specification, it's one ipchain rule to masquerade them.

Oh, and Dave was using a 2.0.x box, so I would guess ipchains would not
be an option - I don't know if this matters or not in terms of the
forwarding rules.

Hi Charles,
Um, my mindset was probably the old "if you have a hammer, every problem
looks like a nail" situation. I have always required a proxy-arp
situation, so I hadn't considered separate ppp "hosts". So you can drop
the : (lets client specify) and proxyarp, and just get
a ppp interface,

i am using J.Nilo's package with LRP 2.9.8.
everything works great, i can add a new service to be monitored by simply
adding a symbol link in /service to the directory where my ./run file is
included...
however i cannot backup any new symbolic links that i create to run the
services.

I know this is only just on topic, but I've been dabbling in a bit of shell
scripting lately on my LEAF (Eigerstein) machine, and find it quite
interesting. I find I can mangle scripts others have written to customise
how they work a bit, but I can also see there's a lot more going on than I
