Hi All
I'm currently using Bering uClibc 3.0 beta 3 but this problem has
persisted since I was using old glibc Bering. My firewall is a
fairly standard 2 interface setup.
I'm having trouble with IRC; I can't send files over DCC. The
process just stalls before any data is sent.

So I installed the most recent version of Bering uClibc on my PC Engines
WRAP. I have set the timezone in /etc/TZ to
EST5EDT with a newline at the end (I also tried without the newline).
However /etc/TZ doesn't seem to get read. The timezone is always UTC.
What is going wrong?
