...when I ping anything in /etc/hosts
I've been using 3.1 for a while but just noticed this:
ping localhost
PING localhost (7f00:1:60ea:ffbf::): 56 data bytes
ping: can't create raw socket: Address family not supported by protocol
(ping something-else-in-/etc/hosts ... same as above)

I've noticed the same behavior but I did not have the time to look at it.
This only happens when you ping a host with an alias in the hosts file.
When ping from dns server it works ok.
