Thanks, Simon. What I ended up doing was booting the USB drive on a different computer with a PS/2 keyboard. That enabled me to set a root password. I then booted it on the USB keyboard only machine and logged in with ssh. Once I ran the "find & load modules" routine and saved it, the necessary
