Instead of loading the pcmcia modules, you can use the pcmod.lrp package
which contains all the basic modules and scripts needed for
pcmcia/cardbus:
pcmcia_core
yenta_socket (I think that one is missing in your setup)

I would like to use my old Compaq Armada 1700 as a router.

3Com Megahertz 3CXFE574BT (eth0)
3Com3CRPAG175 (wireless)
So far I know the wireless card uses the Atheros chipset, so I'm using
