I've given up on SD boot for the moment & ordered a mSATA card. It looks
like it will be easy to copy over the software & config on the USB stick.

The apu2c2 board has 3 gigabit LAN ports, 2 USB3 ports, SD card reader plus
mSATA & PCI express sockets.
