I have a successfully working bering1.2 installation.

I download the latest shorewall package v1.45 from TomEastep at www.shorewall.net
I followed the upgrade procedure --see below
...
after the upgrade, the firewall performs correctly but the shorewall.log is now broken. Can anyone determine where I went wrong?

----------------------------------------------------- howto upgrade shorwall.lrp in bering ----------------------------------------------------- Download the latest shorewall package shorwall.lrp from TomEastep's website. www.shorewall.net

### the shorewall lrp package that TomEastep
### releases from www.shorewall.net is incomplete.
### you also need to obtain one of the configuration
### scripts (one-interface, two-interface, three-interface)

Copy the new shorwall.lrp package onto
your bering floppy, replacing the previous version.

Edit /var/lib/lrpkg/root.exclude.list
and remove the following line
        /var/lib/shorewall

Backup root.lrp so that your change is remembered.

Reboot to load the new shorwall.lrp and altered root.lrp
###ignore the fact that shorewall is temporarily broken.

Untar and copy your downloaded sample configuration script to /etc/shorewall/
###I used the two-interface sample

###to allow DNScache to function
edit /etc/shorewall/rules and add:
 ACCEPT loc fw udp 53

###to allow weblet to function
edit /etc/shorewall/rules and add:
 ACCEPT loc fw tcp 80

Backup shorwall.lrp so your changes are remembered.

At this point you can stop and start shorewall, but I reboot to make sure all changes are remembered and functioning correctly.

-----------------------------------------------------

As I stated at the beginning of this message, shorewall traffics correctly but the shorewall.log that you view from weblet is now broken. Does anyone see my mistake?
