Hi all,

I've been using Dachstein with local dhcp for while now and all works well.

But ;-) I've added a new linux box for CVS and when I try to resolve other machine names from the linux, I get "unknown host" errors, while the Windows boxes all seem to be able to resolve the names without trouble. Sniffing tells me that the box ask the firewall to resolve the name, but it just shrugs it off with "No such name" on ethereal

Analyzing the problem and googling seems to tell me that I should be installing either bind or djbdns on my firewall. I did find bind on Charles' web site, but the comments there and other places kind of scared me off.

The readme for one of the CD images on the same site talks about djbdns and djbutil packages.

So, my question is, can I use the djbdns CD packages - I am running dual floppy system already - so space should not be a problem if there are no other considerations.

If I can supply any further information or answer any question, please let me know.

Thanks to the diligence of the LEAF/LRP team, things in that part of my system work so well that I rarely have to even think about it and I'm sure I've forgotten more than I remember - but then I wouldn't really know :-)

TIA,
Arnold
