Slight update.
I can manually load the modules with:
insmod /lib/modules/ip_conntrack_pptp
insmod /lib/modules/ip_nat_pptp
syslog:
Feb 2 09:22:43 gateway kernel: ip_conntrack_pptp version 1.9 loaded
Feb 2 09:23:05 gateway kernel: ip_nat_pptp version 1.5 loaded
Then it works fine.
