The IAU General Assembly will happen in Beijing in about a month. It will include Joint Discussion 7 http://www.referencesystems.info/iau-joint-discussion-7.html (which is a website that looks related to a bunch of the folks prominent in IERS) The point of JD 7 seems largely to deal with the redefinition of the AU in the manner which has been under discussion for a decade or so.
