This is a common problem on XM devices due to new uboot on AirOS >= 5.6.x,
although I haven't got any XW devices to test but its possibly the same?
Try downgrading back to AirOS v5.5.11 or less or apply the following patches
which I can confirm fix the problem on my XM devices.

factory firmware is built on openwrt and will accept a sysupgrade file,
this patch produces two sysupgrade files for both versions.

Just built LEDE from latest source and get a jffs2 error on the Ubiquiti
UAP-PRO. The errors continue on down the screen for several pages before
the device crashes and reboots again in a loop. Openwrt doesn't have this
problem.

I'll do just that and create a fork. I've been doing some testing with an
earlier version of openwrt trunk trying to find out what change and when
that has caused the switch problem on this router.

I submitted a question plus a patch on the openwrt-dev mailing list for this
and was totally ignored. After reading all the discussion about openwrt and
lede recently and given my experience Ive decided to jump ship too and
hopefully here my patches are not ignored.
