I thought Bamford made a good run to drag a defender with him to create space.
What happened though was he dragged two defenders with him, one of the
Brentford defenders got sucked in when he shouldn't have and that left Eddie
free. Most goals are down to a defensive mistake, I felt Bamford
Totally agree. That was a big win against the best team we have faced this
year (by a mile.)

Rich,
I agree with almost everything you wrote. But if you look at the goal again,
Bamford's not really "marked." He moves into space for Costa to cut the ball
back to him, but Costa chose the arguably more difficult pass, threading it
past two retreating defenders to the waiting
He did well but have a look at his passing especially first half. He gave the
ball away cheaply on a number of occassions but I agree with what somebody else
wrote in that the ball is given to Philips and he is asked continually to find
the killer pass which not surprising he can't always do.
I think Brentford will be play off contenders this season. That’s an excellent
win.

His passing can be a bit crap when it's of the penetrative or probing type but
I don’t think that's his natural game, so wouldn't really criticise him for it.
Hernandez should be doing a bit more. As could Klich or Forshaw. They do seem
to rotate a bit though.
I think both of them get closed
Philips was simply amazing yesterday. MOM by a mile. I wold say that it is
about the best I have ever seen him play. Don’t agree? Look at the match
again and really watch him….

Yes it would be unfair, having criticised Hernandez for his passing last
night, not to mention Philips. I thought Philips battled hard and as you say
did a lot of mopping but his distibution was terrible at times.

I enjoyed the game, and good for my six year old to get a win for his first
game at Elland Road. Another LUFC sufferer has joined the ranks!
Personally, I thought Bamford did OK against a back three on his own, but
was always going to struggle especially when Pontus has briefed Brentford
so well
Few thoughts.
Good win against a lively Brentford team who were unlucky not to be 1 up at
half time due to the woodwork. It was a fast paced, frantic game of low
quality, especially from us at times. We gave the ball away time after time
after getting in good positions. Pablo had his worst
