Since others are giving their recommendations... of the current crop of
US dramas that we watch, the missus I quite enjoy Blue Bloods. Does
nothing you haven't seen before, but does it better than most. She
enjoys G.C.B.
and Hart of Dixie as well. Not sure if they're on in the UK yet though.

We cannot talk about US TV series derived from Israeli shows without
mentioning the HBO series In Treatment, which, according to Wikipedia,
was sometimes a word for word translation of the original BeTipul.
In particular season one in 2008, with Mia Wasikowska was gripping.
