KURDISH MILITANTS SUPPLIED STINGER MISSILES TO TIGERS
International police sources claim that Kurdish leader Abdullah
Ocalan arrested recently by the Turkish police, has sold four
Stinger surface-to-air missiles to the Sri Lankan Tiger separatists
through an extremist group in Turkey known as November 16. It is
also said that PKK has entered into an understanding with the LTTE
International office in London confirming the revelation made by
Turkish General Kirl Parnaik that Kurdish groups have links with
the Sri Lankan Tigers.

24-HOUR COUNTRY-WIDE POSTAL STRIKE FROM MIDNIGHT
All postal workers in Sri Lanka will launch a one day token strike
from
today to protest against the govt decision to turn the Postal
Department
into a corporation [to prepare for IBRD/IMF-proposed privatisation.]
The
strike prevents distribution of local as well as international mail
for
24 hours. The token strike is being launched with the participation of
all
Postal trade unions, who also said that if they do not get a
satisfactory
response from the authorities, they would catalyse a country-wide
General
strike. They have decided on Trade Union action since all discussions
they
had with authorities have failed so far.

"No chicken crossed the road. This is indicated by Central Bank
statistics."

woven by the United National Party to defame the government of Her
Excellency President Chandrika Kumaranatunga."

Cricket star Aravinda De Silva:
"Well, I thought that it was a very good road to cross. The road came
to
the chicken fairly well... and the road was turning a bit as well... I
just went there and concentrated on crossing the road.... I enjoyed
crossing it."

Commentator Tony Greig:
"Oh, these Sri Lankan chickens! ... these guys are marvelous ... I
love
to see them crossing the road... they are so full of enthusiasm and

They are the best."
