hi everyone. png solidarity action has part sponsored graeme kunjil to visit Australia in january 2002. graeme is the president of the uni of png environment society and has (and still does) play a major role in the student activist movement. graeme and other students are also working with trade unions, women's groups, squatter groups and other anti-corporate globalisation and anti-corruption groups. working on issues such as: - anti privatisation - anti world bank / imf - structural adjustment programs - ausaid - how to be spent - murder of anti-corporate-globalisation protestors by govt - working on a class action case for all injured and relatives of murdered - anti-corruption the other main project at the moment is the establishment of a TRUE labour party. being put together by the png trade union congress it joins together students, women activists, activists from the squatter settlements and various other lefties. a great crew with good left wing politics. png elections are mid 2002. the campaign has already begun. this party looks to have a chance (fingers crossed!!!) graeme is visiting in January so as to maximise "networking" time. we felt that January (while some are still on holidays) is generally one of the only times of the year where people might have a bit of breathing space that they could devote to sitting down and discussing a campaign for half an hour or so. graeme leaves sydney on about 20th january. it would be great if organisations / individuals who have an interest in the campaign could arrange to set aside some time to meet with graeme. he is happy to speak publicly (eg in a more formal "speach" sense to a committee of managment, a group of workers, at a rally etc) and in a more informal meeting environment. could interested groups / individuals please contact png solidarity action to "book in some time" and make the neccessary arrangements. ph: 0412 462 646 (karen iles) or 0402 317 497 (jesse wynhausen) or mail. thanks - have a good break!!!! karen iles xxxxxxxx United we win. Divided we beg.
