I see/now understand. Since the piece being milled is not spinning
fast, as it does in a lathe, that square cone does not have to be very
robust. The Nova Chuck or other regular lathe chucks, that are subject
to much higher RPM, are "heavy duty" by comparison. (Euro Roger - did

hey mac!...i would bet that the square, cone set up was conceived because
this piece was originally marketed towards people who had little to no
experience doing any kind of turning work...all you had to do was cut a
piece of wood square, put it into the cone and it would be automatically

As usual - I agree with Joe. The effort to produce a home-made adapter could be much better spent doing something else. Spend the $100 and then spend the time either with your kids/family or doing something "FUN" that you have been wanting to do.I know almost NOTHING about the Rout-R-Crafter but
I understand thanks joe

hey bill...i'll respond to your comment, but i will point out, it is from a
business point of view...yes, you could possibly turn that "nose" piece
from a piece of hard wood, or metal if you are capable...but it also has 24
holes drilled into it which are parallel to the the piece, for it's

it have to me as long for any reason I have never seen a router crafter in the
flesh so to speak. Because of my engineering back ground I would fabricate and
machine one up on the metal lathe if I wanted one but I wou

that is where you put your wood on the inside to be routered, it holds and
centers the wood. the adapter makes it more easier to use at least i think
so. youtube has videos. dave

What does that large black, "square cone-shaped" piece do? Do you put a piece of wood into it? Not sure how that will secure the piece of stock being "milled".Mac-Original Message-

LOOKS GOOD Dave!
One work of advice buy a quick release chuck for your router. The eliminator
chuck or muscle chuck are both a huge advantage over the old compression stile
router chucks.(the one that comes with your router.)

I paid 80 bucks for the one I have, I never really liked it (I expected it to
do everything the legacy does) about 2 maybe 3 years latter my dad bought a
legacy (500 I think) and I bought my first legacy a few months latter)
