I didn’t occur to me to go vertical. That is the concept I am trying to
achieve. How well does it work? I see where you put contact points near the bit
to follow the contour?

I think Mike Pung did make something similar turning a bat handle . It
may be difficult to make a rocking type arm rigid enough.
However it's a good idea --What model LOM do you have
