Tim, Bill, Mike,Am I correct in my assumption that the Model 800 was a "stripped down" (to be less expensive) version of the Model 900.They seem to me to share quite a few features in common - with the 900 being a much more tricked out unit. I mention a few in an earlier post.Thanks.Mac-Origin
That is the best picture that I have. Sorry.

Yea might have been a good opportunity but I found one in Virginia a few
months ago and pretty satisfied with what I paid.
But thanks.

I just took a look at the 800EX manual that the seller posted on eBay. It looks
just like the mill posted in the ebay pictures. Strange to me as to why Legacy
put the ‘EX’ version out. This is the first one I ever saw.

I agree speak up we can help you set up the mill and you will get a better
price for it.
Also Tim have you got a clear pic of a 800 I would like to see one, the pic on
the legacy history page is not clear enough to enlarge to see clearly.

Good theory Tim ill go with that . I did see the revo gear set up I run my
mills mostly that way I think it makes engaging easier than holding them up and
tightening the screws. In case any one doesn’t know you can run your gear set
up or down configuration.

Tim, We are going to have to call you "Sherlock Krause"! Good observation and deduction! After all our comments about it, if he/she is a lurker, they probably won't speak up now.Aaawww, come on now, owner - we mean no personal afront to you if you are (a lurker). We are much more curious as to WHY
Hmmm.. That’s strange to me. My 800CNC is a 800 with no gears. Just Steppers in
their place. There are 2 upper rails and two lower rails. I bought a add-on
from Tim Krause years ago to set the bottom rails at pre-drilled stops. It
worked very well.
It may be a little while before I can take a p
I don’t need it Mac I have 2 rotary tables and lots of spare rail , Richard
would be a better candidate he wants 900 rail to make his revo larger

Bill, ("Bat eye"? J J) (We have a saying in America: "Blind as a bat.")Check the listing again. The guy (or gal) has TWO Legacy "booklets" - one being the "Model 800EX Assembly Instructions and Owner's Manual"! (Looks like TWO copies of it!)NO EXCUSE for it being assembled "improperly"!! (IMHO) Much
Well Bill,
Here's my theory on hacking the rails. His username reflects he's a guitar
builder. If he is building electric guitars with a Gibson or Fender design he
would need a couple more inches to be able to route around the body. Just an
educated guess or one left field dream.
$400 is
Bill, Grab it!! I just checked - and there still are no bidders; and probably won't be - unless, like you, they want the rails and Rotary Table. If you could get someone to buy the Rotary Table from him and you buy the rest, it would probably be best for both buyers. You don't want to have to pay
Still if the rail is cut into pieces it can be joined again this mill could be
made into a working mill i would grab it at the price if i wanted a LOM

Steve is your cnc 800 a manual mill converted? Could you possibly take a

Not sure in anyone’s right mind why you would ever cut off rails, I have to
assume he was working blind without a assembly manual and didn’t even do a
search online for a pic of a mill to follow.

Yes Mac I did see your comments, now because of Hawkeye Tim we know it does
have inner rails and they are adjustable to do tapers and also to lower to
mount the rotary table on. They are at the upmost position now level with the
outer rails you can see the adjustment holes in the mills legs too
Dam Tim good eye I missed that talk about hawk eye your still the master
your right defiantly 2 rails there, that makes the mill a possibility to use
and a cheap buy.

The 800 ships with 4 rails. 2 upper and 2 lower. He assembled it incorrectly.
Scratch on full rail piece. He chopped it for the two blocks shown on the rear.
2 rails should have been assembled for the Z-height on the inside of the mount
below the top rails.
My 800 Performance CNC is a stock 80
Good observation, Tim. I agree - those appear to be LOM extrusion/rail stock. Given that the assembled Mill has the required two rails on the "operator's side" and missing the inboard rail on the back side (where he installed 2 ~5" spacer pieces), I think the two pieces of "rail" we see behind th
I think I see what he did.
Left the bottom rails off (4th axis height)
Doubled the front rail and back rail. Although partially on the back.
Maybe installed the router plate backwards offsetting the axis. This caused the
router to hit the back rail which might be why he cut it off.

My bad. The 1000EX was a different listing.
If he in fact had a 800 then he modified it differently than the manual says.
My upper rails are completely different and not doubled up like in the picture.

Long time lurker here.
I have a 800 cnc and the rails are not like the in the picture. Also this same
picture is listed as the Legacy 1000 on ebay.

A long time ago I sold at least 1 Model 800 here in the UK and it certainly did
not have that short length of rail at each end. I think that either Richard or
Bill have been over raiding the USA looking for extrusion and cut a bit out.
That is not a factory standard.
Cheers

Look at the first picture in the upper left hand corner behind the curtain. It
looks like two pieces of railing if my eyes do not deceive me. Images of a
model 800 are few and far between.

Bill (and all others),Did you see the comments I sent after getting Curtis' email with the link to the LOM 800 on eBay?I expressed a very similar observation - along with several more.It is a rather "odd" Mill - to say the least. (We can understand why the owner "gave up" on it.)Mac-Original Me
Something odd about this 800 I have not seen one with one inner rail on one
side and 2 little short pieces on the other. looking at the pic on its
instruction manual looks like it has a inner rail on both sides.otherwise how
can you move the tailstock along for different length work
