A large pitch using a 90 degree side reeding bit following the template is how I would do it the 2X multiplying gears using a 12inch pitch is where I would start. Looks like the job is about 6inches long so a 12 inch pitch would put a groove ½ way round the work at 6 inches long. And keep doing
