I just finished part 2 of the triple spiral https://youtu.be/Mxx1bhktUkI
A very difficult spiral to make lots of patience needed here so flimsy very
light cuts and lots of prevention against vibration. I had filming problems
too I lost one part of the filming the removal of the 2 unwanted spira

Bill,Really nice video - EXCELLENT job! Thanks for sharing.A couple questions:1. When doing the 2nd "start" - did you go 25% (90º) around the circumference? Or did you go 180º and begin the 2nd" start? Is there a good reson for doing it one way vs the other - or does it not matter?2. P
Very Awesome Bill, yea not sure I'm ready to start one of those yet.
But sure enjoying the video's from your expertise.

Tim,In a previous post - I sensed that Bill "threw down his gauntlet" when he said this would be the first "Triple Spiral" made on a LOM.It is now your "mission" (challenge from Bill?) to make a "Quad Spiral"! LoL!Mac-Original Message-

Hey Mac,
Yea I'm gearing up lol to get more and more experience. I have been
practicing on my accuracy of returns and starts.
Its getting there. I am usually one to jump in with both feet. When your a
specialty shop you don't always have time
to experiment you have to figure it out on the way. Bu
Mac its all got to do with math you multiply the number of starts by the width
of the cutter in this case 4 times 1 ½ which is 6 so that is the 6inch pitch
so to get the next start you disconnect the leadscrew and move the saddle along
1½ inches the cutter width and reingauge the leadscrew that
Bill,Thanks. Could you have moved the saddle 3" after cutting the first path (instead of the 1 1/2"?)? That would have given you "cut #3" - then come back and do numbers 2 and 4 after that? Seems like you could cut them in any "order" - so was just curious.Your filming is great - hard to believ
Yes mac, someone please beat me and video it so I can stop making these dam
videos lol
And yes as far as I know I’m the only one to mill a triple spiral others before
me have done doubles but not triples.

Yes mac your correct any order you want it doesn’t seem to make any difference
with strength as soon as the first cut breaks through it starts to wobble
around and gets worse with each one
Some times you even need more than one steady

Bill,I believe I have seen one before - many years ago. I'm trying to recall if it was on one of the Legacy promotional handouts or videos or if it was included in a CraigsList or eBay posting. If in a CL or eB post, then it was where the LOM owner was selling their machine and included the phot
That would be right mac totally stuff up my swelled head I’m hoping it was my

Bill,That's a nice one - not a style you see often (ever?) Looks to be ambrosia maple inner and walnut(?) outer.Yours is certainly one all of us are looking forward to seeing in its final state.Like I said - I'm not at all certain that I've seen a triple - just had it vaguely in my mind that I mig
