Anthony thank you for posting you hand chasing (threading) images.
I've been turning and threading for decades hand chasings can only be
successfully accomplished on very few limited species of wood so several years
ago I purchased an American made threading jig from Chefware Kits in New
Hampsh
I started out chasing threads without the arm brace, and didn't like it very
much when I first did use it. Put it away for a couple of months before
trying it again. I was fortunate in getting to see Alan Batty and Bill
Jones several time in Utah symposia and saw that it served a valuable
fun

The thread chaser hook is no longer necessary it was used years ago for
production spindle turners when the tool rest was fixed parallel to the stock.
Modern more universal lathes have a "banjo" that can rotate perpendicular to
the stock to support the chaser.

One suggestion, use a planning bit and cut away the outer part of the rosette
