Tim & Bill,

This is a "Reply All".

A couple years ago there was an excellent discussion here about Gears.
Perhaps one of you "Smart guys" can ferret it out and re-post the "meat of
themessages ".
Thanks.
Mac

Thanks Bob,
It's just for Archive reasons we would want it separated. Someone in the
management side may separate it anyway.
None the less super useful information on both sides and thanks so much of
contributing. I for one enjoy your
information as others.

Very useful and like Bill we should have two separate subject posts going but
if you're keeping it straight
that's what matters.
Kind Regards,

I missed one question on the build. I mounted the rails on top of the existing
rails. I found the Legacy rails weren’t straight, they were bowed out in
the middle, who knows why. Anyway I laid the linear rails straight and held
them down with flat head sheet metal screws. Aligned the second rail to the
first and secured it. Took some time, but hey they are straight.
One issue I did spend too much time on was the y axis lead screw. I had to move
the block out missing the new rails, changing the height and getting it level.
Only issue with aluminum, magnets can’t help hold them. I used the plates
from the original Y axis to give me the Z axis mountings. Only way I could
figure it out. Hope all of this helps.
These are the ones I used. GUWANJI SBR20-200mm to SBR20-2200mm Linear Rail with
