I have had occassion to correspond by email and discuss by telephone
the status of Legacy Ornamental Mills 900, 1200, etc. The reason for
my inquiry was that the "mobility kit", i.e., the 5 inch casters, on
my 900 were losing sections of their tread and I wanted replacements.
My initial inquiries went unanswered, and so I found adequate
repalcements from Woodcraft in the form of 3 inch casters. However,
this inquiry seemed to get my name in Legacy's database as someone
interested in their CNC machines. I explained to John in sales that I
am retired in my 70s and although I at one time designed computers and
find CNC machines quite interesting, I can make enough sawdust with my
manual machines in my shop. What I really wanted to know was whether
we, as owners of their manual machines, had been orphaned and could
not look to Legacy for support in the form of replacement parts and
accessories. What I was told was that as a result of the 2007
recession, a number of Legacy's suppliers had gone out of business.
That was the reason I could not get replacement casters. I was also
told that their supplier for the custom aluminum extrusions had gone
out of business, which was the reason that they were no longer making
manual machines. However, I was also told that Legacy was "re-
engineering" their manual machines, and John implied that there would
be an announcement in the near future to that effect.
