Hi, lucky indeed, and I am happy you did not get hurt. It really shows
that attention to health and safety IS IMPORTANT. In my early days I was
working in a machine shop and did NOT think ahead. Simple error of leaning
across to switch off my overhead router and had my left hand resting on the
jig to balance it. The movement of my body touched the jig into the slowing
down cutter and spun the jig off the table, problem was my hand was taken
with the jig as it went. I remember jumping back and thinking "wow, that
was close" and my ajacent operator rushing over to grab me as the blood was
pouring off my hand. The cutter had given me a neat series of 1 inch long
cuts spaced about ΒΌ apart from my wrist to the tip of my little finger. It
happened so fast there was no pain just a sensation of being bumped, but I
still get twinges in my pinky finger 40 years later when it's cold and you
can still see the scars.

So yes the moral is always think about what you are doing and never get
complacent..

Hill Street Blues moment, "Be careful out there!"
