I'm missing the possibilities to ...
- change the paper orientation (portrait vs. landscape)
- resizing the entire chart
- left-right oriented descendant charts
Is this possible?
Thanks

Erik,
I think I am missing some thing here! The answer to your last question seems to
be No.
I am not clear about what you are trying to do with respect to the other
questions. The paper orientation is something that one would normally do using
one's printers control and I cannot see why one
In order to facilitate printing reports in both Danish and English I switch
the Legacy working language between the two. One problem doing this is that
any customizations of the sentence definitions are lost when I switch, so I
wondered if anyone knows if these customized sentence definitions are
Ron,
Basically what I'm trying to accomplish is to have a chart span as few pages
of paper as possible.
If, for example, only a small part of a chart expands outside page one,
resizing all chart elements including the text font, can make the chart fit
on one page. In Progeny Legacy Charting
Paper orientation issue resolved: the standard Windows File menu is hidden
behind the circular chart icon in the upper left corner and that contains
the Page Setup option that I was looking for.
I'm still missing the resize function though (not the same as the zoom

OK, I am now with you!
I have not yet looked closely as to how the current update affects the points
which you make. I have, however, noticed that I no longer have to make the
printer page size fit the actual page size in order to save in any of the image

Erik,
Though you knew about that - it is that function I refer to in my last email
when I talk about how dependant it now is on the printer.

Some pictures I can give an approximate date by the details (a birthday
party, a child's riding toy, the approximate year of a car in the
background, a high chair in the corner, the size of a tree, whether the
porch is screened in, etc). Some I can date to a decade by the style of

I submit to the list at large the possibility that the very few who are on

It isn't a matter of bandwidth. It's that the defined purpose of this user

Hi everybody.
I´ve been using Legacy Charting Companion v.2.0.9 for quite a long time.
Just installed version 7.
I´m not able to generate a descendant chart oriented from left-to-right
(only top-bottom).
Does anyone know how to do the trick?

Hello.
I'm having a real go-around understanding the difference between these
two options: Add a NEW person or Link to an EXISTING person. Every
time I enter

That is about the only way it can be done.
To construct a database showing each geographic location,
and each name it was known by over the history of the place,
is a pracitcal impossibility.
Way too much effort for way too little return.

If you are linking to someone ALREADY IN YOUR DATA BASE - then link to
Existing person. If to someone you just learned about or never
entered before - enter as NEW PERSON.

Lavern,
As it states, the difference is simply whether you are adding a NEW
person to the database or linking to one which already is EXISTING in your
database.
Example: If you are in the Family tab and you click on a blank child
line, it presents you with four unique choices.

Hi folks,
Many years ago when I first started researching my family I kept the files
of the different branches seperated as backup then was to floppy disc which
held 1.44Mb and each branch would fit on one floppy.
With today's technology, ie. Cds, DVDs and USB backup drives there is no

Hi Colin,
I too, started out with separate files for my family based on my parents
and my husband's parents. As you said, each file was easier to keep on
separate floppies for backup.
With the advent of CD's and DVD's and portable harddrives for backup, space
is no longer issue. Also Legacy is
Hi Anne,
Many thanks for your reply to my query.
Another Legacy user wrote to me direct with similar reasons for combining my
files and it confirms my thoughts plus gives me a better insight to Legacy

Again my thanks for your thoughts.

I have just merged two file in Legacy and then ran Check/Repair on the
combined file. The error log gives me the MRIN #229. How do I find this
record.
I know when I am looking for a person associated to a RIN#, I press G and
then type in the RIN# b ut what do I go with MRIN.
Colin.
Click on the Marr List icon (next to the Name List icon). Then type
in the MRIN number (229) in the MRIN field at the top.

Many thanks Bruce, so easy when you know how.{;-)

Kimberley,
Many, if not most, of us outside America only use the Geolocation List for

I suppose that I am rather too used to the fit to page function on my printer
