In the Irish phone books, Mac and Mc appear together. They are both
treated as Mac for filing purposes, therefore appearing after Mab...
and before Mad... Names like Macken would appear in the middle of all
the McK's, for example. Spaces, if the exist between the Mc and the

cataloguing have two treatments - Dutch names get alphabetised by
first capital letter while English names using van Helsing etc get
alphabetised by van. When I did cataloguing I had to check with the
author on which treatment to use.

Look in the Dutch phonebook. Sorting is without "de" , "van de", "van" aso.
