In Options, Data Format I have selected "Indicate Direct-Line children
in Child List (bold)", but I just noticed, when looking at names in the
Index view that one of my 3rd Great Grandfathers was not displaying
bold. Every other direct line-relative in that line and my other lines
are bold.
When you view him as "Husband" in Family View does he show as 3rd Great
Grandfather? Is he bold as Child in his parents family?

It is a bit confusing as you can show ancestors in Legacy in so many
ways - and you can set them all to different people.
This particular issue is fixed by
Tools > Set direct line as preferred
as C.G. Ouimet has said.

You have to reset the 'Set Direct line as Prefered'
each time you add a new dircet line ancestor to gather
them in. Link/Unlink may bypass this, but it is just
as easy (hopefully) to remember to always redet after
a adding of NEW ancestors.
