There is a setting that will have Legacy always start up using the same
file.
Go to Options > Customize > General
In the starting family file select option 3, use the down arrow beside
the box to find and select the file you want Legacy to start with.
Then when you start a new session

After a similar problem of my own making with several months about 300
manhours (to be PC - 'people hours'?) of data re-working , I now try
to maintain at least 2 backup copies and a master file. I save them
on-site and off-site - by using the 'Save Family file as...' to
'file.fdb', 'file
Or to put it another way, learn by my mistake!
